The Position:

They are currently recruiting for an experienced Medical Practitioner to join our HQ Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) team at Fairbairn, Canberra.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review medical submissions (appeal, waivers and medical fitness determinations) and provide written correspondence to submissions & determinations
  • Provide high quality advice to key stakeholders on the medical suitability of potential recruits applying to enter the ADF
  • Provide expert advice to regional DFR Medical Officers and supporting healthcare staff on clinical assessment, investigation and medical standard application
  • Liaise with the Services e.g. Army, Navy and Airforce, on the suitability of applicants for medical waivers against the entry medical standards when required
  • Interpretation, application and development of medical policies

To be considered:

  • Must have Australian Citizenship
  • Current unconditional medical registration with AHPRA
  • Be eligible to apply for Baseline Security Clearance
  • Previous experience working in the ADF environment or Occupational Medicine preferred
  • Well-developed written and communication skills; along with good computer literacy
  • Engagement can be on either an employee or contractor basis
  • Applicants with recent ADF experience and a good understanding of ADF recruiting requirements highly regarded

Area Medical Director

International SOS is seeking an experienced medical professional with a strong clinical background and management skills to be responsible for the medical delivery, quality and efficiency of all Medical Services sites, International SOS and IHMS clinics within the West Australian (WA) area of operations.

Medical Quality

  • Ensure that all operational delivery of medical services and patient care performed by medical and clinic support staff meet the appropriate standard of medical quality in accordance with International SOS operations guidelines.
  • Directly responsible to review and respond to any medical complaints which arise using the International SOS procedure guidelines in conjunction with the  relevant Regional Medical Director

Management and Administration

  • Maximize the profitability of the region with managing medical staffing costs related to the service delivery requirements and maximize the use of existing resources with the addition of new services.
  • Support the adequate resourcing of the medical services teams, with pro-active recruitment and retention strategies to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.

Client and Business Development

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the clients’ contractual agreements and work with the Sales and Marketing department to ensure that relationships with International SOS clients are at all times positive and consistent with the contractual obligations.
  • Manage effective relationships with the Sales and Marketing team regarding new and potential business to ensure availability of required resources and skill set within the delivery teams.

To be considered you must have:

  • Full unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Primary Care experience essential with experience in rural/remote setting and emergency care highly desirable.
  • FRACGP or FACRRM is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, business acumen and communication skills.

Jobfit Health Group delivers a broad range of occupational healthcare services to thousands of businesses nationally, including pre-employment medical assessments, work fitness assessments, injury management and prevention, drug and alcohol screening, onsite medical services, health surveillance and health and wellness programmed.

The client Nyrstar is a leading global multi-metals company processing a wide range of local and international sourced feed-stocks, to produce refined lead, zinc, copper, silver, gold and sulphuric acid with 850 plus onsite workers and contractors.They are seeking casual Industrial Paramedics to provide emergency response to site, first aid treatment, occupational health and health promotion as part of a 24/7 roster to ensure coverage for the site.

This is not a FIFO position; applications will only be considered from DIDO applicants (preference regionally based).

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to all onsite medical emergencies, both work related and non-work related, which may include trauma, cardiac, psychological disorders
  • Coordinate transport from emergency scenes
  • Drug and alcohol screenings and blood testing for lead levels
  • Administer medication, immunisations and flu vaccinations
  • Assess, treat, report and manage work and non-work related injuries and illnesses
  • Use of medication administration devices (infusion pumps)
  • Document and notify site management of all onsite injuries or incidents
  • Toolbox talks and education sessions on health and hygiene protocols
  • Develop professional relationships with onsite clinical team, management and workers, other medical services providers including but not limited to counsellors, hospitals and regional ambulance teams
  • Maintain all required certification standards including that of annual ALS reaccreditation
  • Follow Nyrstar and Jobfit protocols and processes, and maintain accurate medical records in accordance to the Privacy Act and WorkCover SA

Requirements:

  • University degree in Paramedicine/Paramedical Science with minimum of 3 years ambulance, industrial or mine site experience OR Diploma Applied Science (Ambulance Studies) TAFE SA OR other equivalent recognised qualifications such as PHTLS with minimum of 3 years’ operational hands-on experience
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Competence in all aspects of onsite Emergency Response including Breathing Apparatus, Fire Suppression, Hazmat, Rope Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Confined Space Rescue, Road Crash Rescue (or willing to acquire)
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing and Blood Testing accreditation desirable (or willing to acquire – mandatory)
  • Experience working onsite in construction, mining or heavy industry would be well regarded
  • Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative
  • Highly effective communication and inter-personal skills
