There are various job pathways available to our WA qualified APC graduates, you’ll be prepared to pursue a wide range of careers in both emergency and non-emergency healthcare. Our Pre-hospital Healthcare Courses in WA

At Australian Paramedical College, we offer two nationally recognised Healthcare Courses, both available online to provide you with the flexibility to study at your own pace. No matter where you are in Western Australia, our courses combine online learning with in-person practical, hands-on clinical workshops and placements to give you the best of both worlds.

These courses cater to students at different stages of their paramedicine journey. You’ll have the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge to work in non-emergency healthcare or pursue further qualifications to become a Paramedic.

Each course includes online study materials, access to in-person clinical placement opportunities, practical training at our Perth, North Lake workshop plus support from experienced trainers to ensure you are fully prepared for a career in pre-hospital emergency healthcare.

University Pathways

If you’re wishing to become a Paramedic, studying the HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care first is a popular choice for many individuals.

This pathway allows you to build up your practical skills and medical knowledge, not to mention qualify you, so you’re able to get a job in healthcare before applying for university. The best part is your ATAR doesn’t matter!

As a WA student, please note Edith Cowan University (ECU) accepts VET Entry and have RPL available so when the time comes to applying for university, be sure to check you’re eligible. You can learn more here or alternatively, feel free to check out some FAQs to help better understand your options.

FAQs

At Australian Paramedical College, we offer three nationally recognised courses in WA:

  • HLT31120 – Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport
  • HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care
  • HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care

Yes! APC offers self-paced, online learning options for all of our courses, allowing you to study from anywhere in WA. You’ll also participate in-person practical clinical workshops at our Perth office and also clinical placements to gain hands-on experience.

The duration depends on the course and your personal pace. On average:

  • HLT31120 – Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport: 6-12 months.
  • HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care: 12-18 months.
  • HLT51020 -Diploma of Emergency Health Care: 24 months.

Upon graduating with APC, you’ll be ready to pursue various career opportunities, such as:

  • HLT31120 – Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport: Pathway to the Certificate IV or Diploma, or straight into work as a Patient Transport Officer (PTO).
  • HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care: Pathway to the Diploma or straight into work as a Basic Life Support Medic.
  • HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care: Pathway to university to become a paramedic or straight into work as an Advanced Life Support Medic.

Meet Jarrod, one of our impressive APC graduates who studied the HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care

Since graduating, Jarrod has been working as a Rescue Paramedic all over Australia which involves rope rescue, RCR, and clinical treatment of the mine site workers. Prior to that, he was an Emergency Services Officer (ESO) and Ambulance Community Officer and has even travelled to Ghana and Egypt to help set up medical clinics.
