APC Partners with Event Medical Team

Published 12th July, 2024

Australian Paramedical College (APC) is delighted to announce it’s recent Industry Partnership with Event Medical Team, serving APC’s Victorian students and graduates in Australia.

Event Medical Team provides comprehensive medical solutions for motorsport events and more. Through this partnership, students enrolled in APC’s HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care and/or HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care can complete paid placements alongside Event Medical Team’s experienced responders. On top of this, graduates will also have the chance to pursue employment with the company.

Meet Event Medical Team

Holding an advanced event medical license from the Victorian Government, Event Medical Team is equipped and qualified to address some of the state’s highest-risk events. With a passion for motorised and high-endurance sports, Event Medical Team aspire to become a household name for their services in the medical support scene.

Rachelle Pettifer – Director

Rachelle comes from both a background in motorsport and health. She is a Registered Nurse and Paramedic, first holding her nursing registration in 2008, resulting in her being a beacon of knowledge for our students on placement.

Robert Howse – Operations Manager

Robert has been working in the event space collectively for 16 years. including since 2020 with Event Medical Team. Along with 10 years working for the state ambulance service, he has significant experience both in the event space and the healthcare system. This allows Robert to support Rachelle in all day-to-day activities.

Our Industry Partnership Offerings

This multi-faceted partnership offers students the chance for clinical placement and employment.

Clinical Placement

With the Event Medical Team, APC students can expect to complete a placement at a combination of low-to-high acuity shifts. Where they were previously heavily motorsport-based, their medical support now expands to non-motorised events such as running, basketball, rugby and more.

Where students wish to conduct their placement with the Event Medical Team, much like our other Industry Partners that you can meet here, students will gain a more streamlined onboarding process, plus the chance for paid placement hours should students fulfil the position requirements of a ‘Level 2 Responder’.

Employment

As outlined above, students can gain employment as students should they hold the required certificates/qualifications, with the chance of promotions once they graduate.

Level A Responder

Qualifications required: Bachelor of Nursing, Paramedicine or similar.

Level B Responder

Level 2 – qualifications required: Advanced First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation and CPR Certificate.

Level 3 – qualifications required: Diploma of Emergency Health Care/Nursing or similar.

*All Level B skillsets must maintain a Level 2 requirements as a base.

The opportunity to ‘earn as you learn’ is a unique and massive advantage of this partnership for APC students to consider. On top of this, Event Medical Team welcomes career progression within the company – furthering why this partnership is perfect for APC’s aspiring paramedics.
