You might be wondering what our training centres are like. What sort of equipment, facilities and resources are available for students at clinical workshops at training centres across Australia?
In this video, we take a look inside the APC Head Campus in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Just one of our state-of-the-art training facilities for the next generation of emergency health practitioners.
We’re so proud of the next-level training experience we’ve created here in Qld, and in New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia.
For students that choose the come to Queensland for clinical workshops, the main training room provides plenty of space to learn and practice emergency health care skills with all the equipment paramedics and medics use, like oxygen and trauma bags, ECG monitors and defibrillators, stretchers, stair chairs, combi carriers and more.
These aren’t just training equipment, but the exact equipment and brands used and fitted in state ambulances and professional emergency service operations.
There are two dedicated scenario rooms, an injection station, an airway management station, and university-level simulation manikins that take practical scenarios to the next level.
And right at the centre of things, our simulated ambulance, which allows students to practice getting patients in and out of an ambulance on stretchers before we head outside to the real thing.
Outside, we have three “practice” patient transport vehicles that students will learn their way around and of course drive, during clinical workshops. They are fully fitted and as close to a real ambulance vehicle as possible.
Just off the training room is our lecture room where trainers revisit online material, facilitate discussion and go more in-depth with knowledge relevant to workshop skills.
Just as importantly, our facility also provides students with a kitchen complete with refreshments, a vending machine, and facilities to store and prepare their own meals.
There’s also a great café on-site and a large shopping centre just over the road with a huge range of food options.
Finally, did you know we have a dedicated media studio on-site where we produce video and audio content to support our students online learning experience? A testament to APC’s dedication to bringing innovative and engaging online learning to the emergency service workers and paramedics of tomorrow.
We’re so proud of the training ground we’ve created here for the skilled and passionate emergency health workers of tomorrow. If you’re interested in being one, apply today and we’ll see you here soon!
