Patient transport is a service provided for patients whose condition is non-life threatening but cannot transport themselves to and from their home to a medical facility for appointments or treatment. In most cases, because the patient is not suffering from acute illness, clinical monitoring or assistance is all that is required of a Patient Transport Officer (PTO).
It is appealing to those who love a career helping people but don’t want the intensity of “lights and sirens” emergency work.
