The HLT41120 – Certificate IV in Health Care is an entry-level qualification offering pathways to careers in the pre-hospital emergency health care sector (private sector). Enjoy the convenience of working in your local community, as well as working interstate where your qualifications are recognised and accepted.
If you’ve ever wanted a career as an Emergency Medic/First Responder, this qualification will help get you started. Once completed, you will be qualified to provide basic pre-hospital and out-of-hospital emergency health care response, as well as assist patients who require urgent medical attention.
Upon completion of this qualification, you will possess the skills of a Basic Life Support (BLS) medic. Even though the reference is to basic life support, you will be trained to use specialised equipment and deliver high-level patient care in a limited scope of practice. Use this qualification as a stepping-stone into the HLT51020 – Diploma of Emergency Health Care.

The HLT41120 – Certificate IV Health Care has 16 units of study. These units are studied online, and each has a learner guide and learning materials to help complete questions/assessments. The learner guide will help explain the main study topics of the unit, and the document can be downloaded or printed for ease of use.

After completion of the first 11 units, it’s time to attend the Clinical Intensive Workshop 1, where you get to put what you have learnt into practice. Clinical Intensive Workshop 1 is held over 7 days at locations in QLD, NSW, VIC and WA.
After finishing Clinical Intensive Workshop 1, it’s time to complete 80 hours of clinical placement.
