Paramedical Student Review – Renata May
A Review with Paramedical Student Renata May.
To summarise Renata’s thoughts on study and her future pathway;
- “I’m from Brazil, And I’m studying with APC, Diploma of Paramedic Science.”
- “Working in a hospital emergency dept, Renata found it difficult to disconnect from patients.”
- “I am a registered nurse, and I work on emergency in UK for quite a while.”
- “It is challenging studying and looking after your family and work at the same time. But with the college we can just discipline ourselves and find the right time to do your study a little bit every day.”
- “My opinion, if you want to be a paramedic, start with Australian paramedic college.”
Meet Renata, who is originally from Brazil, worked in the UK as a registered nurse, now living in Australia and studying the HLT51015 – Diploma of Paramedical Science at the Australian Paramedical College.
This is what Renata had to say about her clinical workshops experiences, where students get put through a wide range of life-like scenarios to prepare them for what lies ahead in the real world.
Diploma of Paramedical Science is not an advanced first aid course. This nationally recognised qualification is one level below university and provides a pathway into the Bachelor of Paramedic Science.
“It’s been great, yeah. Full on, but it’s being awesome.”
“All the instructors, the trainers … Being with them again, it was really good.”
As a registered nurse and mother, her role meant she was becoming too connected to her patients and her children just wanted their mum to be happy.
Renata did a bit of research online and found the Australian Paramedical College offering training in prehospital emergency health care qualifications that could be also studied online.
“It is challenging is studying and looking after your family and work at same time. But with the college we can just discipline ourselves and find the right time to do your study a little bit every day. That’s how I do it.”, said Renata.
“So I discipline myself with my family. Someone do one thing, another person do another thing, and the moment that Mommy said, I am studying, mom is studying. So that’s how it works in my house.”
“I recommend to everyone do it. My opinion, if you want to be a paramedic, start with Australian paramedic college”.
Our qualifications offer pathways to employment in the health care industry as well as the opportunities to complete a paramedical degree at university (with credit points awarded by approved universities)! Work in London as a Paramedic with Australian qualifications is also a path you may choose to walk down, all of which opens up to you when you study with APC!
Study online, (we have an app too) and attend clinical workshops in most states.
