How to apply to Queensland Ambulance Service – part 2
Now that you have met both the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) eligibility and requirements for paramedics, it brings us to the (C) in the ABC of becoming a Queensland Ambulance Paramedic.
(C) Complete an Application
The last step that towards becoming a paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service is to complete an application. As outlined above, there are two main application options that you can take. They are as follows:
1) Apply to the Graduate Paramedic Induction Program
If you have recently graduated with a bachelor degree in Paramedical Science of equivalent from an Australian or New Zealand university you are encouraged to apply to the Graduate Paramedic Program. Simply register for the Graduate Paramedic Induction Program by emailing Queensland Ambulance Service Recruitment at [email protected]. In your email provide your name, email address, contact number and University.
The Queensland Ambulance Service Recruitment division will forward you an Applicant Information Kit.
2) Apply as a Qualified Paramedic
If you are confident that you will be able to meet the requirements of the ROCAP process then you should contact Queensland Ambulance Service at their email: [email protected].
It is important to note that those who are successfully employed by the Queensland Ambulance Service are required to complete the QAS Induction Program. This program covers medico-legal and clinical practice requirements of the QAS so that you will be authorised to practice on the job.
Queensland Ambulance Service Commencement Salaries
Those who are successfully employed by the Queensland Ambulance Service can expect to receive a base rate salary ranging from $55,369.86 to $64,907.18. As time of employment, experience and qualifications increase, QAS paramedics can expect to see their salaries continue to increase, proving that becoming a paramedic is rewarding in many ways.
Enhance Your Career Pathway with the Australian Paramedical College
The Australian Paramedical College can enhance your eligibility for becoming a paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service by completing the HLT51015-Diploma of Paramedical Science, which will allow you to gain the qualification to continue paramedic study at university. In 2018, there is the likelihood paramedic registration being legislated by the government, meaning new paramedics must hold a Bachelor of Paramedic Science.
