Volunteering Opportunities

In the health care sector there are a long list of organisations you will be able to volunteer with. Here are a few groups we suggest approaching:

• St Johns Ambulance: Volunteer as an Ambulance Officer, Community Transport Officer or First Aider. 

• Australian Red Cross: Volunteer as an Emergency Services team member or Community Trainer.

• State Ambulance Service: Volunteer with your State Emergency Service as an Ambulance Community Officer, Community Emergency Response team member, Volunteer Driver and more. State Ambulance Services include: Queensland Ambulance Service, Ambulance Service of NSW, Ambulance Victoria, Ambulance Tasmania, SA Ambulance Service, St Johns Ambulance Northern Territory, St Johns Ambualnce WA.

• State Emergency Service (SES): As a member of the SES you can become involved with general rescue, road rescue, rescue boat operations, land search, urban search and rescue, traffic management rope rescue or community education.

• Surf Life Saving: Join this emergency response service and become a beach patrolling member

• Hospital Ships: Many hospital ships worldwide are looking for volunteer student paramedics. Hospital Ships include: Mercy Ships, Ywam Medical Ships, and more.

• Your local Hospital: Most hospitals welcome the support of volunteers. Areas in which volunteers can assist in are: Specialist Clinics, Inpatient Wards, Emergency Department or Day of Surgery.

• Your local sporting club: You can also approach your local sporting clubs and volunteer as a member of their medic team.
